ANNUAL ASSEMBLY - 2006
The Serbian Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood of the United States and Canada gathered for the Annual Assembly at the St.Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. The Assembly was scheduled as a prelude to and in conjunction with the Nineteenth Triennial Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church of the United States and Canada.His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah spoke at the Clergy Symposium on the theme: Consider your call, brethren..."(I Cor.1:26).
Brotherhood Vice President Protopresbyter Rade Merick warmly welcomed the attendees His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher, President of the Episcopal Council, urged the Brotherhood to be more active and encouraged greater clergy participation. Father Merick expressed appreciation for the attendance of His Eminence Metroplitan Christopher and the attending Bishops, His Grace Bishop Dr.Mitrophan, His Grace Bishop Maxim.
Fr. Nedeljko Lunic was elected President of the Presidium, Fr.Dragoljub Popovich was elected Vice President of the Presidium. Fr. Milovan Katanich was elected Secretary. Father Kostur and Fr. Stevan Stepanov were chosen as Verifiers of the Minutes.
Items on the agenda included the Presidents' Report, Treasurer's Report, Audit Report, Continuing Education for Clergy, and Calendar Committee Report. Brotherhood Officers elected for the forthcoming years included: President: Protopresbyter Stavrofor Dennis Pavichevich; Vice-President Protopresbyter Rade Merick; Secretary: Protopresbyer Rodney Torbic; Treasurer-Father Deacon Damjan Bozic; Board Members: Protopresbyter Djokan Majstorovic, Father Darko Spasojevic, Father Aleksandar Novakovich, Father Kristijan Petrovich, Father Mile Subotic.
The Audit Board consists of Protop resbyter Stavrofor Nedeljko Lunich, Protopresbyter Dragoljub Popovich and Protonamesnik Dragomir Tuba. The Calendar Committee consists of Protopresbyter Djuro Krosnjar, Father Darko Spasojevic, and Father Deacon Damnjan Bozic. Protopresbyter Stavrofor Dragoljub Malich is Pension Plan Administrator and Father Milovan Katanich is the Healthcare Plan Administrator.
During the Assembly, it was noted a much greater profit was realized during the current year in the production of the calendar. Also, the annual gift for clergy widows was increased during the current year. Financial assistance was given to two graduate theology students and St.Sava School of Theology in Libertyville was the recipient of a grant from the Brotherhood. Criteria will be established for the awarding of scholarships by the Brotherhood. |
